The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that all Letting Agents prominently display a comprehensive list of all fees, charges or penalties which are payable to the Agent by a landlord or tenant at any time before, during or after a tenancy.

The list must be displayed at any premises where the Agent comes face-to-face with an existing or potential customer. The Agent must also publish a list of fees on their website (if applicable).

Landlords will be required by law to install working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their properties, under measures announced by Housing Minister Brandon Lewis.

The move will help prevent up to 26 deaths and 670 injuries a year.

The measure will take effect from 1 October 2015, and came with strong support after a consultation on property condition in the private rented sector.

The Competition and Markets Authority report into the market for residential leasehold management in England and Wales was published on 2 December 2014. Satisfaction rates for management were 25% percentage points higher for blocks with Residents Management Companies (RMCs) and Right To Manage Companies (RTMs) in control of management. Overall satisfaction was high with 83% rating services as good compared to 58% for non-RTM/RMC leaseholders.
